Health Education Awareness

IWEN offers workshops and programs to educate women on basic health issues and hygiene practices. The cost of these workshops varies depending on location and availability of medical personnel. These workshops are offered when funding, and opportunity allows.

About the need

In rural villages usually health posts can barely keep up with the immediate needs of a family's health. Families do not have money for basic physical check ups or basic dental care. Education is vital to prevent illnesses that can be cured with personal hygiene and basic medicines. Mothers need to be informed about the difference between "traditional healers" and medical personnel so that proper care can be given.

Purpose of Program

Health education for women helps the whole family since it is the mother who has primary care of the children. Most rural communities depend on traditional healers for physical conditions. These traditional healers do have an important place within the community but often cannot diagnose illnesses that need a medical doctor. As well both women and men experience changes in their physical conditions as they grow older and how to deal with these changes are mainly unknown in these rural areas. Health education is therefore preventative and informative.

Cost

Donations of any amount can be earmarked for our health education awareness program. The average cost of one workshop is $300. IWEN can coordinate with other NGOs in the field and organize health education workshops or dental clinics once funds are in place

Buy A Brick

For $100 you can buy a brick with your family name on it and have it installed on the walls of the school. You could also dedicate the brick to someone you care about. All proceeds from this will go directly to the Cause and you will be provided a tax receipt for your contribution.
